Are Children Safe from Asbestos Lurking in Their Crayons, Toys?
Children are the sole of our hearts, as parents we do everything to make them happy; we educate them, activate them, teaching them how to be better persons…you’ll do…etc. you’ll never stop, but the most of all make them healthy and safe.

And to continue conversation about asbestos and its related disease, it was found recently that asbestos fibers were found to be in our children’s hand, in the popular children’s crayon brands which we have been used for years… no say decays. Not just that but in other popular children’s products and toys all sold in the USA.
In fact most of us believe that asbestos and all its related products are under control, some were banded due to its dangerous health problems that were discovered due to its inhalations, others are under certain governmental constriction and safety procedures while dealing with it. You’re not alone. To face the facts; asbestos still exist and still legal…it’s everywhere.

Recent reports from an environmental health advocacy group that deadly asbestos fibers have been found in crayons and other toys in the United States, serve as a grim reminder that children may come in contact with a lethal disease through the direct contact of the toxic substance where parents least expect it — their toys.
“Even if the absolute risk is relatively low, children are more vulnerable to toxic material and carcinogens,” said Dr. Richard Lemen, former U.S. Assistant Surgeon General and now a professor at Emory University Rollins School of Public Health in Atlanta. Children are affected by asbestos 3.5 times than an adult of 25years old. For years asbestos was known for the only cause for a rare cancer disease called mesothelioma and it is considered to be lethal. That is why when our children are manipulated with this asbestos silent killer which was found in their crayons and some toys many funds and organizations are calling for a ban on asbestos. It is really unacceptable to find our children dealing with a deadly substance, substance that used daily in products we used to truth.
According to the EWG report, tremolite or chrysotile asbestos fibers were found in:
• Inside Intelligence Secret Spy Kit (Buy-Rite)
• EduScience Deluxe Forensics Lab Kit (Toys “R” Us)
• Saban Power Rangers Super Megaforce Crayons (Greenbrier International)
• Disney Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Crayons (Greenbrier International)
• Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Crayons (MII Inc.)
• Amscan Crayons (Amscan)
Crayons and crime-scene toys with 80 percent of children’s toys are imported from China, but unfortunately the United State and Canada are the only two industrial nations that have not banned asbestos through major companies and the voluntary actions to ensure that asbestos isn’t in their products isn’t enough. Although Asbestos is no longer widely used in manufacturing in the United States which makes us confused and we are particularly worried about imported asbestos products and putting our children to risk.
Asbestos is composed of long, thin mineral fibers, very tiny and invisible to the naked eye, airborne easily inhaled in a child’s lungs where they remain for decades and can develop into an asbestos related disease. As time rung these fibers cause scarring and inflammation of the lining of the lungs and abdomen and symptoms is manifested decays latter in the form of breathing impairment due to asbestos related disease such as lung cancer and mesothelioma.
The majority of asbestos-related disease was caused due to the heavy exposure of occupational workers to asbestos. There never has been a documented case of a child diagnosed cancers to asbestos exposure from crayons or other children’s toys, but with the long latency period between exposure and diagnosis, it would be extremely difficult to diagnose.
